ICT OCR Level Two Nationals
Who is the course for?
This course is for students who have an interest in ICT; it will help students to develop learner’s knowledge and understanding of the Information and Communications Technology sector. It will also help to develop learner’s ability to work autonomously and effectively in an Information and Communications Technology context. You must also be able to work independently and to deadlines.
Units of Study
We offer two OCR Level 2 Nationals in ICT, one is an Award, which is the equivalent of one GCSE A*-C and consists of one core unit and a second smaller unit. The second OCR Level 2 National in ICT is a Certificate, which is the equivalent to four GCSEs A*-C and consists of the same core unit and nine additional units.

Specialised Units:
- Webpage Creation
- Digital Imaging – plan and produce computer graphics
- Spreadsheet – design and use
- IT systems and user needs
- Databases – design and use
- Desktop publishing
Methods of Teaching and Learning
The course is taught by well qualified and experienced staff. You learn by completing project and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.
Enrichment
A trip is organised each year to add to the students understanding of how information technology is used in a business environment.
Methods of Assessment
All units are internally assessed and externally moderated, there are no external examinations on this course.
Resources
The College has modern computers with a wide range of the most up to date software programs, which are requirements of the course.
Progression
This course gives students the skills to take forward onto a modern apprenticeship, or for further progression onto a higher level of study.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at D, one of these GCSEs must be English.
Additional Costs
Students will be expected to purchase a memory stick.
