St Brendan’s offers Career Academies within three different subject areas, and this month second year Business and Performing Arts Academy students were recognised for their hard work and dedication throughout the year! Students, parents, friends, mentors and even the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress gathered for the awards at St Brendan’s, hosted by Business Teacher Louise Charles and Dance Teacher Emily Field.

Each student collected a certificate for their achievements and a congratulatory message was read out on behalf of each student’s mentor. During the programme, the students have access to guru lectures, workplace visits, an internship and a ‘Partner in Business’ who helps to guide and mentor the student in their field of expertise.

Students reflected on their fantastic experiences through the programme and mentors spoke about the range of exciting work the students were involved with. The Career Academy students enjoyed a range of different internships this year, including festival organisation, working with children and elderly and experience within the financial sector.

The evening was a great reflection on the students’ achievements and also highlighted the excellent programme, which allows students to gain real experience of the world of work.
