Overseas Students and Tuition Fees

St Brendan's College is a state funded college established to offer full time education to sixth form students who live locally. It does not have any funds of its own from which to offer bursaries or grants to support students with their tuition fees.

The College is very willing to provide education for students who are not citizens of the UK, but you should note that the College does not provide accommodation or run an accommodation agency.

If you are a citizen of the UK or EEA (EU and Iceland, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Norway) please see 1 below. If you are NOT a citizen of the UK or EEA please see 2 below.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are an overseas student from outside the UK or EEA, wishing to come to the UK for the SOLE PURPOSE of education, please note that we are not registered with the UK Borders Agency and unable to sponsor any applications for student visas from overseas students.

1.
a. If you are a citizen of the UK or EEA and aged 16-18 years old at the start of your course, you will not be charged tuition fees since the college receives full fees for your tuition.
b. If you are a citizen of the UK or EEA and aged 19 or over at the start of your course, the college only receives a portion of the cost of your tuition from its funding body, the Learning and Skills Council. You will be charged the remainder of the cost of your tuition. During 2010-2011 this will be £1080.

2.
a. If you are NOT a citizen of the UK or EEA and aged 16-18 years old at the start of your course, AND are accompanying parents who have the right of abode or leave to remain in the UK, you will not be charged tuition fees since the college receives full fees for your tuition.
b. If you are NOT a citizen of the UK or EEA and aged 19 or over at the start of your course you will be charged full tuition fees since the college receives no other source of income for your tuition. The fees for 2010-2011 will be £4800.

In addition to the above, there are other exemptions and if you require further guidance you are encouraged to contact the relevant government department at the UK Border Agency website.

In all cases, the College will require to see and keep a copy of appropriate original documentary evidence; in most cases, this will be your and your parent/legal guardian's passports and any relevant visas or letters from the Home Office Border and Immigration Agency.

Where tuition fees are payable, they may be paid in termly instalments by arrangement with the College; however, you should note that the first term's fees must be paid in advance before you may enrol at the College. In some cases, proof of this from the College may be required by the immigration service before you are allowed to enter the country.

In all cases, you should make as early contact as possible with the College; this will allow the College to identify your exact status with regard to fees and, if fees are due, to provide any necessary receipts for immigration.
