The cast of 'The Grandfathers' talk about the value of the arts and what drama means to them.
The Granfathers was a collaborative project the College undertook with the Bristol Old Vic as part of the National Theatre Connections Project.
Following months of intensive rehearsals and stunning performances both here and at the Bristol old Vic, our group of actors received the news they had all been waiting for, our production was selected to perform at the National Theatre in London.
The National Theatre connections project enables school and youth theatre groups from across the country to be involved in producing exciting new theatre for young people.
There were a choice of 10 plays and in collaboration with our partners at the Bristol Old Vic we chose the engaging and challenging text of The Grandfathers by Rory Mullarkey which imagines the UK still using conscription and the play follows a group of young conscripts from basic training to being deployed to the front line.
