Curriculum Overview

We offer a wide range of traditional A-level, BTEC and Cambridge Technical courses to suit the needs of the individual, these are otherwise known as Level 3 courses.

Although predominately a Level 3 College, we are aware that some students will need an extra year to consolidate their GCSEs which can be achieved through our Access to Level 3 programme. Upon successful completion of this programme and subject to students meeting our entry requirements, students can progress to our large range of Level 3 courses. A number of students follow additional enhancement subjects which include Core Mathematics and the Extended Project Qualification. It is our intention as a College to maintain an exciting and inspiring curriculum that facilitates progression.

Our entry requirements to Level 3 courses are a minimum five GCSE grades 9-4 (or equivalent) - for some courses subject specific conditions are set in addition to this.

A formal induction programme supports all students so that they make a successful transition to Level 3 study. We hold a New Student Day at the end of GCSEs in the summer term. During this day, students are given bridging tasks which are designed to introduce students to some of the skills they will need to develop to be successful independent learners at Post 16.

As well as studying Level 3 or our Access to Level 3 courses,  students also take part in our Academic Improvement Programme, Religion, Philosopy and Ethics and Academic Mentoring. We fully prepare our students for life in Modern Britain, applications for Higher Education, as well as facilitating enrichment opportunities. We believe that we offer a relevant and stretching curriculum which is designed to meet the needs and aspirations of our students.
