26.10.20: We have today notified staff, parents and students of a confirmed case of Covid-19 at St Brendan’s. Student and staff safety is of paramount importance to us. We have stringently followed government guidelines and are working closely with the Public Health Team and the college will be open after our October half term break.

Since leaving St Brendan's I have gone on to take an English Literature BA (hons) degree at UWE in Bristol.

Although it sounds cliche, my biggest achievement so far is getting to university. I am the first person from my family to get to university and I will probably be the only one, considering that my younger brother isn't going either.  It feels as if it proves that hard work really can get you anywhere as long as you are determined to get there.

One piece of advice I would give to current students is to try hard.  Looking back I wish that i would have tried harder than I did.  doing reading outside of lesson is a good idea, if you don't understand something then your teachers are more than happy to help and there are so many resources available through the internet and libraries, it can really make a huge difference to your grades.

One thing I wish I could change about my time in college is how caught up I became in my social life.  I was so desperate about trying to maintain friendships and see everyone that then it affected my work.

In ten years time I hope to have a well paid job, after completing a masters degree and PhD in English Literature.  I am not sure what field this will be in yet but I feel that having a high qualification will open up more options.
