College Careers Events
Future Progression Day
Every July during future progression day all Access to Level 3 and 3Y1 students have the opportunity to participate a series of workshops, presentations and mock interviews delivered by expert speakers, employers and universities about the range of educational and employment opportunities available to them after sixth form.
Our careers fair in November is open to all students in the college and includes attendance from a wide range of employers, universities, further education colleges, volunteering and gap year providers and training and apprenticeship providers. These are an ideal opportunity to students to learn about the range of opportunities available to them after completing their studies.
Themed Careers Days
All students taking applied subjects participate in a themed careers day. Students have the opportunity to attend presentions, workshops and networking activities to help them link their classroom learning to employment and study routes.
Progress Review Days
Presentations delivered by expert speakers from universities and apprenticeship providers allow parents and carers to find answers to their questions and concerns.
Master classes, presentations and workshops
We work closely with our Advanced Graduate Programme coordinators to provide opportunities for students to learn about aspirational career pathways. These events are open to all students at the college. Examples of recent talks are School Leaver Programmes with PwC, Apprenticeship and Graduate opportunities with Airbus, How to choose a Course and University and applying to Oxbridge
During our careers events external providers conduct mock interviews to help students to develop interview skills in preparation for the real thing. We arrange bespoke mock interviews for both employment and university.
We also arrange group and individual mock interviews for specific course and subject areas such as nursing, medicine and teaching.
Visits and Trips
The careers department organises a visit to the apprenticeship and university fair at Ashton Gate in October and the UCAS convention during March. For students interested in applying to Oxford or Cambridge University we arrange a visit to the Oxbridge conference in March. We work closely with local Universities to attend subject taster days. We also organise subject and sector specific industry visits.
