Twenty seven students and two members of staff set off on a gruelling ten hour coach trip to Disneyland Paris on 1st March to a Business and ICT conference.
A day trip into Paris was arranged and the students had the opportunity to visit the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral and to spend some time shopping. The conference was held on the Monday and included a series of three lectures from successful business people. The first speaker had set up a range of online businesses and talked about what was needed to be successful in an internet based business. The second speaker was a young entrepreneur who had set up 'SuperJam' at the age of just 14. He particularly appealed to the student audience who hopefully appreciated that you are never too young to start a business. The final speaker was from Disneyland and received mixed reviews - many in the audience were surprised at the seemingly ruthless approach the Disney brand takes in its pursuit of profit. It was a good lesson, showing that even within the 'fluffiest' of businesses the aim is to make money from its customers!
