Second Year BTEC Spot students took part in a 3 hour mountain bike assessment last week, as part of their Outdoor and Adventurous Activities Unit.

The assessment saw students riding downhill over rough terrain at speed, climbing back up again, and negotiating various obstacles that form part of Ashton Court’s Nova trail: drop offs, jumps and berms (built up corners that can be taken at speed) to name a few. Sport staff were impressed with the level of commitment and determination demonstrated; even though most were well out of their comfort zone. All learners completed the assessment and staff were delighted that after numerous crashes all learners arrived back at college, a little saddle sore and bruised, but well and truly in one piece! Everyone who took part can be proud of their individual effort.
