St Brendan’s alumna Jess Brammar has been appointed Executive Editor, BBC News Channels.

Jess attended St Brendan’s Sixth Form College between 1999 and 2001, studying for her A-Levels before taking a place at the London School of Economics where she graduated with a First in International History.

She then launched her career as a journalist at BBC Question Time, where she progressed from Researcher to Assistant Producer before moving to ITN as a Producer.

She re-joined the BBC in 2014 as a senior broadcast journalist, and has since held a number of senior roles on the BBC flagship news programme. She became deputy editor on Newsnight in 2016, and served as acting editor during its coverage of the Weinstein scandal and Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Following a three-year period at HuffPost UK - most recently as Editor-in-chief - she has now returned to the BBC in the newly created role of Executive Editor BBC News Channels, where she will oversee the BBC’s domestic and international news channels: BBC News and its international equivalent, BBC World.
