Whilst Open Events are in full swing, first year students are rapidly settling into College life, meanwhile second years are thinking hard about their next steps. For 34 second years however, term one brought with it the pressure of UCAS applications and early submissions, on the path to hugely sought-after careers and possibilities.

This year, the careers team supported 34 early applicants through the UCAS process. An impressive total of 21 students have applied to study at Oxbridge this year, on a range of courses including Computer Science, History, Biology, Zoology and Engineering.

Meanwhile, 14 ambitious students have decided that they would like to pursue degrees in Medicine, Veterinary Science or Dentistry, and so they also had to meet the early deadline by the 15th October. The 14 students have applied to study their competitive subjects far and wide, at universities including Queens Belfast, Bristol and Nottingham.

Now the early applications are complete, the 34 second years face 8 months of hard work in the lead up to exams, whilst the careers team and academic mentors are ready to support the rest of the second years in submitting UCAS applications, securing apprenticeships or applying for full time work!
