The first WoW (World of Work) Wednesday, organised by the St Brendan’s Careers Team, was a fantastic success.

WoW Wednesdays have been designed to help students think about their options after College and this session focused on summer jobs and gap year options. There was a broad range of speakers at the event including the founder of ‘Employment for Students’ (e4s) who talked to students about how to make themselves stand out in a competitive job market. Ex St Brendan’s Student Christine Cornock also visited to speak about her experience with VSO ICS; an organisation carrying out valuable work in third world countries. A different voluntary organisation, ‘Frontier’, followed - with speaker Robin Denson having conducted marine biology research with endangered species in New Zealand, his advice and experience made for an inspirational talk. Finally, the Manager of STA Travel, Sonja Wright, informed the group of the many packages that are on offer; from treks in Thailand, to teaching English to Monks!
