In2science is the UK’s STEM summer programme which organises for AS science students from lower income backgrounds to work alongside research scientists for a 2 week period. Aside from gaining some expert experience with professionals, the students also had access to guidance on University applications and an insight into career options, as well as a £100 bursary.

During the scheme, our students had to complete projects and produced some highly impressive work. Chemistry and Biology student Lewis Hayward won an award for his blog which tracked his experiences, the experiments and the lessons he learnt along the way. Meanwhile, Magdalena Lewoniec produced a series of stunning photographs which captured the lifecycle of moths.

Congratulations to our nine students who all enjoyed their summer experience. Said Magdalena on her in2science experience, “It was an amazing opportunity which gave great insight into science research and provided me with some valuable skills which I look forward to taking on to University next year!”
