As baubles and tinsel begin to pop up around College, St Brendan’s decided to extend its Christmas cheer beyond the College campus for a second year and took part in Treefest at St Mary Redcliffe Church.
St Brendan's Tree
The festival brings together hundreds of different ‘tree exhibitors’ from organisations across the city including local primary schools, secondary schools, charities and public services. All exhibitors submit a tree and decorate it in a way to symbolise their organisation. The festival, which has been running for four years, attracts thousands of visitors annually. This year’s St Brendan’s tree is adorned with origami boats, symbolising the many destinations students take after College.
As well as being a fantastic event for the community, Treefest will support St Mary Redcliffe’s work in the community and their chosen guest charity Prelides; a Bristol-based music project which helps schools across the city experiencing high levels of disadvantage. The aim is to put classical music at the heart of every child’s education and by doing so improve confidence, co-ordination, speech and language. The festival runs from Tuesday 3rd December – Saturday 7th December; entry is free but donations are very welcome.
