Students and staff at St Brendan’s experienced a theatrical threat before the October holiday when Inua Ellams visited and performed The 14th Tale.

Inua is an internationally touring poet, playwright, performer, graphic artist and designer. He has published three pamphlets of poetry and The 14th Tale was his first play, which was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival. The play tells of the exploits of a natural born mischief-maker who grows from the streets of Nigeria to the lights of Dublin and London.

The St Brendan’s audience watched in awe as Inua vividly recreated the characters of his upbringing, whilst challenging the audience’s expectations of what it is to be young, black and male in London today.
