As we begin to emerge out of lockdown, projects that had been put on-hold are, once again, starting to gather pace. One such project is a major new sports facilities development at St Brendan’s.

Phase one of this development, involves the total reconstruction and re-profiling of the College’s sports pitches, including a new drainage system. Work on this began at the start of the year, but had to stop almost immediately as the country went in to Lockdown 2. It was therefore with great excitement that we welcomed back the diggers this week, and as you can see from the photographs they are already making fantastic progress.

Phase two of the programme for new state-of-the-art sports facilities at St Brendan’s, includes a brand new floodlit 3G pitch which will be used for football as well as being compliant with Rugby Union Regulation 22. This will sit alongside four outdoor netball and tennis courts, changing rooms and a meeting room facility. Planning permission has already been granted for this phase, and it is hoped that construction will soon get underway.
