The St Brendan’s Sports Union welcomed the launch of the England Handball Project in fine fashion last week with the delivery of two high-profile events.

On Tuesday, 3 of our Level 2 students worked hard to plan and deliver a handball festival for 45 Year 9 students from Broadlands Academy. Despite being the first time the students had organised such an event, the day was a tremendous success which was enjoyed by all. This was followed by St Brendan’s hosting the first South West Regional Finals for U13’s and U15’s. Teams from Abbeywood, Pates Grammar, Orchard, Stroud High and Sheldon High School came to the college to compete against each other, with a view to qualifying for the Southern Finals on 19th May. The day ran like clockwork thanks to the support from our relentlessly enthusiastic Student Management Team. These students impressed so much that they have been invited to support the delivery of the Southern Finals, alongside England Handball representatives. Congratulations to all involved - what a fantastic achievement!
