The Rugby Academy ventured into unknown territory and took part in the well-established Pre-Season tournament hosted by Colston’s School on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

This proved a great opportunity for the very new squad of players to start putting their pre-season training in to practice, to learn more about each other as players and to establish some training goals before their first official game in September.

Every player put in a stellar performance, against school teams who have played and trained together 3-4 times a week for the last 5+ years. The St Brendan’s students maintained vast quantities of possession, putting in some hard tackles and demonstrating from the outset a desire to learn and improve together. Complete with a well-worked team try by Tommy Winstone, the team provided an impressive performance. The early pre-season work has clearly been paying off – the day was a great start to the season and the ambitious team look forward to the year ahead of them.

It’s not too late to sign up to the Rugby Academy! Visit the Sports Office or speak to Vicki Haigh for more information.
