St Brendan’s Sixth Form College is excited to introduce its newly elected Student Union team.

The Student Union plays a vital role in representing student voices, organising events, and enhancing the overall College experience. Here’s a look at who’s leading the charge and their plans for the coming year.

A Voice for Students

The Student Union is dedicated to making sure students feel supported and heard across all areas of College life.

This year’s Student Union President, Jasper, highlights the importance of student feedback, encouraging everyone to contribute ideas to help shape a vibrant and welcoming campus.

Vice President Cassie is committed to ensuring students receive support both academically and socially, while also increasing participation in College events to foster a strong community spirit.

Secretary Kira hopes to be a friendly and approachable figure for students to discuss any concerns, ensuring every voice is listened to and valued.

Representation and Communication

Student Governor Ramatu aims to represent students in College governance, making sure the student body’s views influence important decisions and that the campus environment remains inclusive and comfortable for all.

Communications Officer Owen will manage the flow of information, keeping students and the wider College community up to date through social media and other channels about events, policies, and opportunities.

Enriching Student Life

Sport and Enrichment Officers Oskar and Yara plan to expand sports clubs and recreational activities, ensuring a diverse range of options that cater to different interests. They’re keen to hear directly from students to develop sports and clubs that engage as many people as possible.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer Evie is focused on promoting awareness and ensuring that all cultures and identities are respected and celebrated within the College community.

Sustainability and Student Life Officer Erika seeks to inspire students to engage with environmental and political issues, while fostering a positive, progressive atmosphere on campus.

Health and Wellbeing

Finally, Health and Wellbeing Officer Caitlin is dedicated to improving the College’s environment by promoting mental health awareness and ensuring students feel comfortable and supported throughout their time at St Brendan’s.

Preparing Students for Life Beyond College

Beyond their immediate responsibilities, being part of the Student Union equips students with valuable skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and event management are just some of the abilities students develop through their involvement. These experiences help prepare them for future careers and personal challenges by building confidence and practical know-how.

The Student Union at St Brendan’s is more than a platform for student representation—it’s a place where young people grow as individuals and leaders. By taking on these roles, students learn how to advocate for others, manage projects, and work collaboratively, all essential skills for success beyond the classroom.

We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this team of young people will make throughout their time in office and beyond.
