3rd June 2025
Each year, our College community comes together on 16th May to celebrate St Brendan’s Day — a special occasion in our calendar. St Brendan, known as the Navigator, was an explorer who embodied courage, resilience, and a spirit of adventure — qualities we strive to inspire in all our students. In true celebratory fashion, the day was marked with sunshine, fun games, and delicious ice creams, bringing joy and connection to all who took part.
As part of the annual festivities, we also take the opportunity to recognise acts of generosity, empathy, and kindness within our community through the Good Samaritan Award. This award honours students who go above and beyond outside of the classroom, contributing selflessly to the wellbeing of others and embodying the values we hold dear.
We were incredibly proud to present the 2025 Good Samaritan Award to Year 13 student Karolina. Karolina’s dedication and compassion were recognised by the College's Student Welfare and Wellbeing Team, who nominated her for this well-deserved recognition.
Karolina’s commitment to supporting others truly shines. Her remarkable achievement — raising over £300 for Dementia UK by walking 5km every day throughout the month of March — is a powerful testament to her kindness, perseverance, and sense of social responsibility. But her generosity extends well beyond fundraising. Karolina is also a thoughtful and compassionate friend, always ready to offer a listening ear to those who may be feeling lonely or in need of support. Her quiet acts of kindness have left a meaningful impression on both her peers and staff alike.
To celebrate her contribution, Karolina was invited to a special lunch with her parents, where she was presented with a certificate by Principal Marian Curran, alongside other staff members and members of the wider St Brendan’s community. It was a moment of pride and appreciation for a student who truly represents the spirit of the Good Samaritan.
