Bristol Sixth Form College, St Brendan’s has been recognised nationally as Runners-Up in the 2025 Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) Governance Award.
This prestigious award celebrates excellence in governance across the sixth form college sector. The SFCA represents a members community of over 100 sixth form providers across the UK, and securing the runner-up award is a significant honour, acknowledging the exceptional commitment, insight and moral leadership of our governors.
Marian Curran, Principal commented;
“This recognition from the Sixth Form Colleges Association highlights the strength and integrity of governance at the college, and we are proud to see the work of our Governing Body celebrated on a national platform.”
The award was in recognition of the confident, reflective, and resilient governing body, which is able to demonstrate best practice in financial governance and strategic challenge. At St Brendan’s, governors (both staff and students) play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the college. There to support and challenge senior leaders, ensuring that every decision reflects our Catholic mission, values, and unwavering commitment to the success and wellbeing of students.
St Brendan’s experience in governance has informed ongoing Board development and is being shared with the wider sector to support improvement in governance.
On behalf of the entire college community, we offer our warmest congratulations and thanks to our governors for their service, wisdom, and dedication.
