Mentoring

Often our students do not have access to people who are working and are unable to talk about different careers or jobs and how someone like them could go about working in a similar role.

You may have colleagues who are keen to provide some advice and guidance to our students about their organisation or career path by way of mentoring.  This can be a a rewarding way to ‘give back’ to young people especially as we emerge from the recent pandemic.

SMF Aspiring Professionals

In the Social Mobility Foundation scheme, students are assigned a mentor from a specific career sector, where they can meet them and ask any questions about getting into work, apprenticeships, and Universities.

The programme includes regular webinars and video calls where students can meet professionals from lots of different sectors and ask them any questions they may have.

"SMF Scheme entitled me to a lower entry grade at university. Instead of it being AAA, requirements may be ABB or AAB. The scheme also looks at developing personal skills such as confidence, organisation, and self-belief."
