St Brendan’s student Ayub Arkam has had two very good reasons to celebrate success recently, and now looks forward to a positive and exciting future.

After passing his driving test just last month (first time and no minors!) the first year student is now celebrating yet another fantastic achievement which will open up many opportunities for him. Ayub recently discovered that he has secured a place on the UNIQ Spring School with Oxford University; a highly sought-after residential opportunity. Ayub will be heading off to the prestigious university on the 14th April and will spend 5 days at one of the university’s college’s; attending lectures and taking part in social activities during the evenings. Ayub has selected to study Computer Science whilst at Oxford and will get a first-hand look into life at the university, whilst meeting like-minded people and gaining a deeper understanding of his subject of interest.

The programme is designed to give students an insight into what studying at degree level at Oxford is really like. Ayub looks forward to being taught by Oxford academics, attending lectures and using the world-class facilities, just like a real graduate!

In addition to an incredible academic programme, Ayub will have an opportunity to meet undergraduates and university staff members, who will be able to offer guidance and tips on admissions and the Oxford application process. Once the hard work is done for the day, he will have an opportunity to take part in a huge range of social activities including sports, college tours, city-wide scavenger hunts and parties!

We look forward to staying up to date with Ayub on his journey; the determined teen has his sights set firmly on a future at Oxford and plans to apply to study there as an undergraduate himself next year!
