Last week, our St Brendan's Year 13 A Level Geographers took part in a groundbreaking Drone Workshop delivered by Geoconnected — making us the first College/Sixth Form anywhere in the UK to offer this opportunity.
This isn’t just an exciting milestone for our students; it represents a meaningful step towards future-ready education.
Teaching with drones strengthens essential skills such as:
- Critical thinking
- Digital and technological literacy
- Environmental awareness
- Problem-solving and decision-making
These competencies align directly with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
SDG 4 – Quality Education,
SDG 5 – Gender Equality,
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and
SDG 13 – Climate Action.

Geoconnected is an education provider connecting children to nature using drones, maps, satellite images, and GIS
By embedding these forward-looking experiences into the curriculum, we’re helping ensure that all young people—regardless of background—have access to transformative learning that empowers them to understand, navigate, and shape the world around them.
We’re also delighted that this work will be featured in Teaching Geography magazine and showcased at the Geographical Association Conference in April.
A huge thank you to Geoconnected for providing such an inspiring and innovative session. The future of geography education is here—and our students are at the forefront of it.
If you are eager to develop a deeper understanding of the world through an innovative and future-focused course, we are now welcoming applications for A Level Geography for September 2026.
