Welfare & Support Services

College life is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times - and you’re never expected to manage everything alone.

At St Brendan’s, we’re committed to making sure every student feels supported, understood and equipped to thrive both academically and personally. You’ll always find someone here to listen, guide, and help you get back on track whenever you need it.

Our Support Services

Progress Tutors

Your Progress Tutor is your main point of contact throughout your time at College. They help you settle in, monitor your progress, and guide you towards achieving your best - academically, personally, and in preparation for life after College.

Progress Tutors:

  • Meet with you regularly in timetabled sessions
  • Track your attendance, progress and wellbeing
  • Help you plan your next steps, whether that’s university, apprenticeships or employment
  • Are available to talk about personal concerns and can signpost specialist help

They also act as a consistent link between you, your teachers, and home.

Welfare Team

Our dedicated Welfare Team is here to support your mental health and general wellbeing. College can bring new pressures - expectations, workload, life changes - and it’s normal to need support.

The Welfare Team offers:

  • A safe, confidential, non‑judgemental space to talk
  • Day‑to‑day emotional support
  • Guidance and signposting to external specialist services if needed

They are available throughout the College day, and students are strongly encouraged to reach out whenever they’re struggling.

Inclusive Learning Support

We welcome students with disabilities, learning difficulties or medical conditions and encourage early conversations about any support you may need.

Our Inclusive Learning Team provides:

  • Tailored learning support
  • One‑to‑one or small‑group sessions
  • Access to specialist software, dedicated study rooms and quiet spaces
  • Help developing study skills, essay writing and subject support
  • Assistance with exam concessions and learning assessments

Support is available for all students - whether you have a diagnosed need or simply want to improve your study confidence.

Careers Advice & Guidance

Our Careers Team works closely with students to help you plan your next step confidently.

They offer:

  • Support with university applications and UCAS
  • CV writing, interview practice and employability skills
  • Guidance for apprenticeships, employment and gap years
  • A dedicated Careers Hub, accessible to all students

Appointments are available for every student, ensuring personalised, practical advice throughout your time here.
