Starting college is an exciting step - and we’re here to support you every step of the way. 

At St Brendan’s, your wellbeing, safety and success are our priority. Whether you need support with your studies, your wellbeing or anything else, there is always someone you can talk to.

Support built around you 

We understand that everyone’s experience is different, which is why we offer a range of support services to meet your needs. 

You will be supported by a team of staff who are here to help you feel confident, safe and ready to succeed.

Pastoral support 

All students have access to pastoral support throughout their time at college. 

This includes:

  • Dedicated staff who oversee your progress
  • Support with settling into college life
  • Guidance if you have any concerns or challenges

Pastoral support helps you stay on track and feel supported both inside and outside the classroom.

Wellbeing support 

Your wellbeing is important, and support is available if you need it. 

You can access:

  • Wellbeing support services
  • A safe and confidential space to talk
  • Guidance on managing stress and balancing college life

We aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable asking for help at any time.

Looking after yourself

Starting college is a big step, and it’s important to take care of your wellbeing along the way. 

You can support yourself by:

  • Taking time to rest and recharge
  • Staying organised with your work
  • Talking to someone if you feel unsure or overwhelmed
  • Getting involved in activities that help you relax and enjoy your time

Remember, it’s normal to need support when you’re adjusting to something new - and help is always available if you need it.

Learning support 

If you need additional support with your learning, we are here to help. 

This may include:

  • Support for specific learning needs
  • Help with study skills
  • Guidance to help you reach your full potential

Support is tailored to you, so you can succeed in your studies.

A safe and supportive environment 

We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students. 

This includes:

  • Clear safeguarding procedures
  • Trained staff who are available to help
  • A culture where students feel respected and supported

Your safety and wellbeing are always our priority.

Who to talk to 

If you need support, there are lots of people you can speak to:

  • Your teachers
  • Pastoral staff

  • Other support services across the College

You don’t have to deal with things on your own - help is always available.

Support for parents and carers 

We work in partnership with parents and carers to support every student. 

Families can:

  • Contact the College if they have concerns
  • Be reassured that support is available
  • Work with staff to help their young person succeed
