At St Brendan's we recognise the importance of students gaining first hand experience of the workplace through workplace visits, work shadowing or work experience.
We have developed extensive links with both local and national employers to source work experience placements for students.
All students have the opportunity to apply for a range of structured work experience programmes with employers to help with their exploration of career opportunities and expand their networks. These include employers such as the NHS, Ministry of Justice, Barclays, GKN, Rolls Royce and Airbus.
Accessing opportunities
The latest opportunities are sent to all students through our MS Teams pages and Careers News work experience bulletin.
Many of our students have benefitted from the increase in virtual work experience opportunities, allowing them to gain insight to professions and organisations which may not be accessible face to face.
All Access to Level 3 learners complete 1 week of work experience in June as part of their programme. Health and Social Care students complete an extra week in a relevant setting in December.
