Summer transition tasks

Before you start at St Brendan’s, your teachers will set Summer Transition Tasks for the subjects you will study in September.

These tasks are designed to help you prepare, build confidence and feel ready for your first lessons at college.

What are Summer Transition Tasks?

Summer Transition Tasks are short activities set by your subject teachers to help you start thinking about your course.

They are:

  • A starting point for your learning
  • An introduction to your subjects
  • Designed to help you feel more confident when you begin

They are not a test or formal assessment.

Completing your transition tasks will help you:

  • Feel more prepared for your first lessons
  • Understand what your subjects will involve
  • Build confidence before September

Your teachers may use these tasks as a starting point in your first lessons, so it’s important that you complete them.

You can find and download your Summer Transition Tasks by selecting your subject area or faculty.

Each subject will have its own task ready for you.

If you are viewing this page on a phone:

  • Select the menu
  • Choose your subject or faculty
  • Download the tasks from there

When to complete your tasks

You should complete your Summer Transition Tasks before your first lesson in September.

Working through them over the summer will help you get the most out of your course from the very start.

Getting support

If you have any questions about your tasks, don’t worry - support will be available when you start college.

Your teachers will go through the tasks with you and build on them in your lessons.
